Driver's Door Window, doesn't want to come up....?
Hey Guys, got in the XJ this morning, rolled down the driver's window to wipe off the condensation and it wouldn't come back up. Good thing I didn't go all the way, I pushed the button to roll back up, and nothing, but then grabbed the window, pulled up a little and it came up. Tried again and again I had to pull to get it to go back up. Once it started moving it seemed ok. Its a little slow, but I didn't know if that was just the way they were. I'm guessing I need a new motor.....do you guys agree, and how difficult would you say it is to remove all the nonsense needed to swap out the motor? Thanks.

your motor may be fine and the window might just have come off its trac. Does it come up straight when you roll it up or is it crooked?

Window seems to be aligned properly....
...yeah when it rolls up it goes just fine. It seems like it's seated properly, and straight as an arrow.

take the door panel off and locate the cable that operates the window. Take brake cleaner and clean off all the old gunky hardened grease on it and the tracks.
then reapply lithium grease and see if that makes any difference...

Great suggestions....
...thanks for the help guys, the switches all work well. I'll try the cloth guides spray trick, and if that doesn't seem to work I'll move to the next most labor intensive job. I'll clean the cables and things inside the door if it still happens. Thanks again.
