Default drag link length

My 96 cherokee when turning left at slow speeds the tire slowly rubs and the tie rod end that connects the drag link to the pitman arm has been recently replaced, I am wondering if its possible that its not threaded in all the way properly and allows one side to turn further out than it should causing the tire to rub slightly, its oem height. Just wondering if anyone has the exact measurement from the end of the tie rod end to where the drag link ends.

Is there anyone with a stock cherokee who can measure the distance from the center of the tie rod at the pitman arm to the center of the drag links tie rod.

Well I measured the length of mine. It was 37" from zerk fitting on pitman arm tie rod end to the drag link zerk fitting on the right front knuckle. I compared it to another jeep that was at my work, and the length of that one was at 36 1/2", so I think I can fix it by bringing in the tie rod end in 1/2", but I would like to know if anyone else has this measurement, becuase I do not know if that jeep is where it should be.

Realize this is a very old post. But just in case anyone else is looking, like I was...36”.

Tie rod is at 42”.

Utilize these measurements at your own risk. Measurements may vary. Past measurements are not necessarily an accurate indicator of current or future measurement. Don’t exit the ride until it comes to a complete stop. Safety equipment must be used at all times. Keep weapons pointed down range at all times. Don’t try this at home. The measurements won't be the same on all of them, it depends on what springs you are using and how much they have settled, and if it is properly aligned or not.

Exactly. They need to be whatever length keeps the toe-in and tracking correct. I know mechanics that replace tie rod ends by counting the turns of the old joint coming off and screw in new one on the same number of turns and think it's right! You would be closer using a tape measure between the grease fittings, but that still may not be perfect. Ride height and axle loading can change the toe-in easily, especially on IFS vehicles
