hey guys i was at a pull a part a few weeks ago and there was a xj the had a 4 cylindor diesel motor in it was just wonderin if ya'll new anything about that it looked like it had a cummins turbo but wasn't for sure what it was i would love to run one if i could get a little feedback about it

 

There is a guy on the forum who's got one, an '88 I think... I can't remember anything else about, except he was having some issues with it. Dunno if he got them straightened out.

 

man i would really love to find out more about them cause i work for a rig movin company and we have a few diesel mechanics that work for us that i could take it to but if there a pain i don't want to go that route. i have talked to those guys i worked with and they said they r super simple but i'm afaid i wont be able to find parts for it

 

They are really hard to come by, Ive been searching for one for a couple years, came across one, its was too beat up to even be salvaged.


1985-1987 2.1 L Renault Turbodiesel I4, sold in U.S. and until 1993 in Europe.

1994-1996 2.5 L VM Motori Turbodiesel with intercooler I4, 118 hp, only sold in Europe and South America.

 

Renault 2.1 XJs only sold all of 1985 and early 86 in U.S. Aisin AX5 5 speed was only tranny bolted behind it.(Thank goodness)

 

so what ur sayin is that they r a pain in the *** to get parts for them

Diesel Jeeps are rubbish. These diesel engines have ruined Jeep's reputation in Europe. The only decent engine in a xj is the 4l I6.

 

JeepMJCo has one. Its a cool truck... but a miserable witch to find parts for.
