8.25 seems the best way to go when you can access one for good price. Repeatedly reports stronger than the much maligned 35. Freegdr is the only one I have heard survived big tires and hard use, I have 536000 km on mine, fresh bearings and still going strong. Both these 35's are of non-c clip type. Can't prove that makes a difference. 35's used many applications but the 8.25 is also plentiful and have a friend who is 3rd season locked and no failures. If you get offered a good deal, go for it.

if you have a lift in it you most likely wont have a driveshaft prob as for the sensor id hit the auto parts and see if there different sensors for different years.

I will tell you that it is all exactly the same. My neighbor and I put one in last saturday. As stated before the drive shaft is right at about an inch shorter on the 8.25 then the d35. If you are lifted that one inch may throw off your drive shaft angle so be prepared for some shims just it case.

All the brake lines are bent in the exact same way, and no need for any abs as the 8.25 does not have abs.

we actually used all the lines, brackets, hubs, and emergency brake cables from the d35.

It was our first time swapping axles and we were both very pleased at how easy all the parts lined up and fit together.

its funny how you hear that the d35 is junk. But when you have both the d35 and 8.25 in front of you the 8.25 is much beefier.

good luck man it took us about 3 hours from start to test drive with a beer here and there and a stop at Harbour Frieght .

You will need different ubolts as the C8.25 has 3" axle tubes vs the d35's 2.75" tubes. Other than that you should be good to go. If your jeep is lifted keep the longer DS too! It works out great, I did this swap to mine after blowing my abs d35. Plus you will also want to pull the fuses/relays for the abs cause it feels weird having front abs only. Also be prepared, some people will have a cow and say its unsafe blah blah blah.

I forgot about the ubolts, sorry they are different. (myself)

another thought I had the d35 has different size axle shafts for the passenger side and the driver side. The 8.25 axle shafts are the same size on either side. So depending on how hard you wheel you can gert away with carring one extra axle shaft with the 8.25 as opposed to the two that you have to carry for the d35.

Easy swap, and then it's really easy to put 94 to 98 Grand Cherokee rear discs on , too.
