I’ve never used rtv before so is this what I need to do my rear main seal? Maybe a dumb question but I guess that’s what this forums for.

Right Stuff is a polyurethane. 'Spensive but gooood.
On the subject of selants. With any silicone sealer if it smells acidic or vinegary, it is acidic. Acids are not good for Aluminum so if your sealing Aluminum pick a different silicone or use Poly or use good old fashioned Permatex #2 ( green )

I misspoke, the rtv isn’t actually going the rear main seal but on the oil pan gasket but I guess you guys knew what I meant.
Walmart only had this and red high temp gasket maker and I didn’t want any red showing but if I see any right stuff I’ll pick that up.

It's just fine.
The rear main also needs a small dab on either side of the seal, and it'll work fine for that as well.

Since your using it as a gasket dressing any oil resistant Silicone sealer will be more than fine.
