cluster swap help!
grabbed a cluster from a 92. it looks like he had done some swapping himself..
gas, speedo, tach, and battery all work. I need to know which sensors to install to make oil and temp work please
where can I get some? how can I get the right ones?
BUT!!
the oil numbers dont look correct
and neither does the temperature. pretty sure xj's run at like 220*

i have had no experience with cluster swaps but cherokees should not run over 200 im lucky to have one of the few cherokees with no problems cooling wise, mine stays at 180 constantly and has never over heated

really?? the one in my white xj went up to 260* and always stayed at 220* (the middle number)
I wonder how that happened... however! it should still go about 125. undoubtably

Looks like you found yourself a metric cluster. It's not oil temp, it's oil pressure, in your case, measured in BAR, not PSI. Same with your temp sensor, that's ºcelsius, not ºfahrenheit, I believe.
Fortunately, I think the sending unit is the same... I'm using a cheap-o Duralast from ChinaZone (PN: PS133) but most will recommend the OEM from the dealer.

and thats a bummer. but as long as the needles are pointing straight up I guess it doesnt matter anyway. I'll swoop some gauge faces later
I'll order some OEM senders with my other purchases on monday thanks for the info
how do I describe them? just say senders for oil and temp on my model xj and they'll have the correct part #'s?

You need an oil pressure (and maybe water temperature?) sending unit for a '93 XJ.
There are also switches, those won't work, they're for the idiot lights.

You need to buy sending units for the model year that a re designed to be used WITH GAUGES.
When you go to order/buy there should be an option to select the sending units for gauges.
Oh and learn the METRIC SYSTEM ..... that cluster would confuse the devil out of me.

All gauges go to 260.
All three run somewhere around the middle ... 210 +/-
In fact I never knew the op temp of my 1996 until I did a cluster swap.
I was worried about the temp being high, but there are no signs of overheat so I figure it's 'normal' for that XJ ... or more likely the sending unit calibration is not exact.

Here's my special gauge decoder but don't tell anyone 'cuz it's a secret... This works for both metric and imperial measurements.
Red = bad
Middle = good (most times)
0 = bad (most times)
Again, secret, so shhhhh.

just converted 125 to imperical. it equals 257*F
so I was right about the 220ish. I'll still probably order some gauge faces that are to my liking in the furture

Swapped mine out last weekend...
Oil Pressure = 0-40-80 (PSI)
Coolant Temp = 100 - 210 - 260
Fuel = Empty
So your conversion of 125º C to 257º F is accurate.
