With my Chevy truck it is easy - I buy the AC Delco parts. How about with the case of my Jeep? It's a 1997 Cherokee, 4.0L.

Can't really go wrong with NAPA ignition parts. Belden wires, Champion copper plugs.

I have become a huge fan of Taylor wires. The Thundervolts I think. Not expensive and made in the USA.

I'm with Radi on the premium line of Napa cap and rotor.

I hate Champions. Bad experiences.

I like NGK Iridiums. Put 'em in and forget about them for 100,000+ miles.

For ignition parts like cap and rotor, I usually buy Napa premium. Be sure though to specify "premium" as the premium parts are better and don't cost that much more......

Taylor or Belden wires. Again, get the best line of wires they offer as there is likely more than one.

Champion copper plugs or NGK for your 97. Be sure they are gapped properly to .035 before installing them.

For a cheaper wire the Taylors are hard to beat and sad to say NAPA is about the last place to buy caps, rotors and don't even try to buy points just anywhere anymore, online only and only a few of those that are worth a ****.

Points are not an issue on XJs.

I think about the last year for points was around 1974.

NAPA is starting to go down the tubes I think. They are drifting away from the Balkamp brand picks and going with some ChiCom crap. So watch the part numbers. Balkamp picks part numbers begin with "BK". The base part number may be the same but the letter prefix gives it away. Bait & Switch.

Echlin stuff is good. I like their cap and rotors (in this case).

I've had good luck with the Accel tune up kit although I'm not sure about their plugs. I usually use Champions or NGKs........

Buy all the stuff you think you'll need in the future now. If when/you switch or sell your ride the stuff can go with or you can hawk it on ebay.
