Best spark plug for 00-01 XJ?
I've heard champions for everything but the more I do research I get random tips that NGK spark plugs work better with the distributercapless cherokee. I can't seem to get a straight answer..

I too used the $6 doller per platnum plug and not only did it run like crap it gave me engine codes, went and used .98 cent autolights and everything is good. NGK is a great plug and have used it in most everything I owned in the past. if it works for ya let us know.

I have done quite a bit of research on this.
Hands down, the best plug for the distributorless 00-01 ignition is the NGK. Champions run okay, but the NGK seems to handle the task the best with the most longevity.
Bosch = bad news. Way too many people having misfires which are immediately cured with a change of plug brands. Not everyone has the misfires to be fair here, but why take a chance when there are better options?
Nobody complains of misfires on the 00-01 with NGK.
Bottom line is that you will not go wrong with NGKs for this XJ.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I'll go with the NGK. Is there any special size/style I should buy? I'm 16 and new to the XJ. Changed the plugs on an old BMW once but I ordered them online.. I'll just be going to walmart or autozone.

Be aware the coil pack engines use the "lost spark" system where 2 plugs fire every revolution, one on compression and one on exhaust. NGK ZFR5N (3459) are recommended for these engines. NAPA doesn't sell them, but Advance does.
