Thanks for the comments, and keep them coming. The main reason I am considering switching to synthetic fluids is because I have been told that they help everything run cooler.

Not sure that is true. Synthetics are superior lubricants, but temp differences would be marginal at best I think.......

Here's an example (although not scientific) that synthetics do reduce temps. Years ago a buddy of mine ran a late model roundy round with a Winter's auto tranny. Running conventional fluid, the tranny tunnel got so hot that he couldn't rest his leg against it. After changing over to Amsoil ATF, that no longer was a problem.

Regarding engine oil, I ran Amsoil in my Samurai for 175,000 miles and not a problem. At 150,000 miles I finally decided to adjust the valves and removed the valve cover. Zero sludge, zero build up of anything. It looked like a new head internally. Pretty amazing considering I only changed the oil once a year. I did also run their by-pass filter setup. I was really impressed.......

How long had you had your Cherokee before you started using it?

I run Amsoil in all of the differentials, transmissions, and transfer cases for all of my vehicles. Their 75W-90 GL-4 was the only stuff my Unimog transmission liked too.

^Nice! What gen supra? I've got a 500hp 240sx that I run in a local drift circuit down in GA. Run Amsoil in it too.
