Yes, another vacuum thread, I know and I apologize. I have been doing literally days of looking around on here and following lines, etc. I have not found an answer.
My vacuum ball is gone, and I just have some graduated plug thing shoved in the end of my vacuum line where the stock bumper used to be. Followed every line, and they all appear to go where they need to, and have no cracks.
So I shouldn't be getting any function at all out of my hvac system or my cruise, correct? I know my cruise sucks because it only works like 25% of the time, but the hvac controls seem to work all the time. I can hear hissing as im sliding the controls around.

I guess it depends on the vacuum rating for all those actuators. Their may be some check valve for their operation too; not sure though. Without that vacuum ball, I would cap it over leaving it unhooked. That's engine vacuum...

Yeah it is plugged, but I guess I am still confused how I get some operation of those things that need a vacuum, when just having the cap in the end can't create that much right?

I'm sorry, hold vacuum.
If the canister holds vacuum for when the engine is under load or what ever the reason may be, is that capped line enough to keep stuff functioning?

Like s14unimog was saying the canister itself does not create vacuum. You will get varied operation of your vacuum accessories at varied throttle position with just straight engine vacuum. The canister has the proper amount of volume to keep ALL of your vacuum assessories operating at ALL throttle positions.
