96 xj rear end

Just bought this 96 xj and was wondering how to tell what rear axle it has in it. By the way my first "car" was a 74 cj5 and 15 years later I'm glad to be back in the jeep club!!!!

it may say on the diff cover grab a wire brush and scratch away some paint

Thanks...I'll try that later this afternoon. Going to go change the oil in it at my girlfriends dad's house. I bought it for $200 and it runs great...just trying to figure out what I'm workin with

post a pic of the diff cover. If it has ABS it is a Dana 35 if it doesn't its either a Dana 35 or Chrysler 8.25.
