So I'm rebuilding my AC because the few parts that were there when I bought the jeep were a bit too corroded to use. I also know that whenever you replace something on the AC system it's best to replace the drier and since this one hadn't run in God knows how long, I didn't want to leave anything to chance. So far the pulling and matching up old parts with the new ones I got from parts geek has gone well. Until I got to the drier/accumulator. Everything on the new one matches up except where the harness/plug thing goes. On the new one there appears to be a shrader valve? Pics below. Did I get a drier from the wrong year by mistake? Is there a point to a shrader valve on the drier? Is the harness necessary? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys
Old next to new. Everything matches except the port where the harness goes.
You should be able to unscrew the schrader valve and put the pressure relief valve there
HI thanks for the reply. The shrader does not appear to unscrew There isn't anything for a wrench to get onto and that pressure switches threads don't come off and it's the same size so it won't go inside there either. Did any XJs come with a shrader there? Is there a different pressure switch I can get to work with this or should I just get an all new drier? And no the old one does not have a shrader.

Reason: Forgot to answer first question
Engine: 4.3L with headers and full 3" exhaust system
I am not aware of an XJ having a schrader valve there. That is where the low pressure switch is supposed to go. Are you sure you got the right accumulator?

According to the parts selection online yeah. For giggles I was actually just looking through Autozones part selector too and it pulled the same part for my year. I looked at a 93 (mines a 94) but from the pictures I wasn't able to see if it is or isn't missing that shrader. I've heard the AC runs cooler when you jump that switch anyway but I'm not sure if that's a good idea just yet.

It doesn't run cooler. All that switch is for is if you loose pressure in your system, as in leaks out, it won't allow the compressor to engage and damage itself

Oh I was under the impression that it was a cycling mechanism that made sure the evaporator didn't ice over. But alright then. I think what I'll do then is try to find that 93 drier locally and see if it fits. I'll post results if it works. If you have any other ideas let me know. Thanks
