My abs light is coming on and making a pulsing sound and then squeeling realy bad. Causing me to press on the breaks realy hard. Anyone got an answer or solution for this?

Sounds like the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) is self activating the ABS. I am not to familiar with the design on the XJ's, But it could be a number of things. Used to have this problem with the Early 00's C and K series GM Trucks.

I would have someone scan it and see what code its throwing. A generic scanner wont do the trick you will need one that does ABS.

For future reference to anyone. The ABS pump does not run off the engine from a pulley. It's a totally different system then the Engine.

my guess is a/the speed sensor is droping to 0 while driving indicating a wheel lock up situation, in turn causing the ABS pump to run and correct the lock up condition that dont exist.

I think once all that acts up and goes bad its junk. It wasnt a good system at all from what i found out about mine , it is a 1990. I just took all that stuff out and put in a 1995 xj master cylinder and booster. Parts and warranty at pull a part was $25 i should be done tomorrow

If you have the bendix ABS system its not that hard and supposed to be worth it. i should know today. The swap isnt hard. you just need a donor 95 cherokee and up 98 or so, not sure how new you can go. Searxch abs conversion or bendix conversion on here there is tons of info. I got $25 in parts with a warranty,i got maybe a day in it and thats even a trip to pull a part and hunt and remove parts
