Default Fixed!!

SO I was able to wrench on the ol' XJ today and fix some minor things, the windows being one of them. I followed this Link http://soxja.org/images/pics/Bypass/Bypass.html.

I then remembered my button obsessed 4yr old daughter who sits in the back. So I dug through my box of junk and found a basic switch. I wired the switch to the jumper wire and Finito! all the windows work and I can lock them still if I have to. Thanks to all for the great advice and links. Now to get my reverse lights working WITHOUT having to mess with the neutral saftey Switch! LOL (not gonna happen).

Nice work, smart thinking on the lock-out switch!

Excellent & detailed solutions!

QUESTION: For the soldering fix shown on...

http://www.flickr.com/photos/we3poll...7617926981883/

... In the "before" pix, I don't see the broken solder connections.
Is there supposed to be a soldered 'link' between the two or, is one
simply 'weak'; missing solder? Appreciate the feedback before I get into this fix.

Thanks!

Hi John-

If you look at the before pic especially http://www.flickr.com/photos/we3poll...7617926981883/

you will see the pin on the right (the one with the single thin connection running to the right side) has a crack in the solder around the pin. If you imagine looking down at the weld, you would see the pin totally separated from the solder weld- there would be a ring shaped gap all the way around the pin itself. I have taken apart two more JY switches and found this same exact issue. Don't know if it is **** poor QC or what.

One note I have about disassembly- I found needle nose pliers used to pry up under the individual rocker switches worked better than a screwdriver (more surface area on the tool = less damage on the switches). If you have any other questions- pm me.
