I know that your supposed to get an alignment done after doing a lift, but cant you just do toe? So untill I can bring it into the shop, cant i just get it as close as I can with a tape measure?

if its just a trail rig like mine then you could but if its a dd id take it to the shop and have them do it but you can always try it and if your tires start wearing weird then take it to the shop
your camber wont change but your caster will. iv heard toe will but i dont see how on a sfs rig like an xj.

ID say take it to a shop, being a DD and possibly a weekend warrior you can get the 3 month or 1 year warranty...hard day on the trail might just get ya a warranty alignment for free within that year

awwwww I do see how it would change the caster, and I could just be being an idiot but wouldn't I need adjustable control arms to change the caster?

Thanks that makes sense. But what would a shop do to adjust the caster on something with a small lift and stock c-arms?

Adjust drag link. Loosen the bolts then adjust untill the wheel is straight (make sure the wheels are pointed straight first). Tighten the bolts and test drive, then recheck. It make take a few sessions to get it right.

all i did is align my front wheel with the rear for toe in, i set my caster by adjusting my control arms and the steering is the easiest from then upper drag link. but i have a pretty good lift on mine so after i broke in my lift for like 1000 miles or so, i took it to 4wheelparts for an alignment. they did a great job for $40, then even re-adjusted my lower control arms and track bar so i had a good caster angle and a centered axle...no extra charge!
