I need to replace the driver side arm rest for my 96 Xj. I have searched up and down the internet and Ebay. All that come back is not what I have in my Xj. The ones I seem to find have the long thin piece that extends from the arm rest. Like this one.
1996 Jeep Cherokee Driver Arm Rest: eBay Motors (item 220547617868 end time Oct-24-10 22:36:20 PDT)
My arm rest look just like the rear arm rest but a bit longer.
94 jeep CHEROKEE SPORT rear- inside arm rest RED: eBay Motors (item 200250186956 end time Nov-16-10 13:10:22 PST)
Does anyone know where I can get one???

Thanks guys. No jeep scrap yards around me. Checked Cragislist as well. As far as the chain, I would use a overhead door handle like I did for my Cj, but this is the wife's jeep so it has to be somewhat decent.
A guy did posted this on another site fore me this morning. I don't know how I didn't see it last night when I was on this site. However it is expensive...

I am having the same problem, can't believe someone doesn't make a reproduction considering how long this was in production....any help here? At the minimum, I need the plastic mounting part since the screw pulled out, the outside padded part is fine.

Try ebay yet? Craigslist? Ebay has an advance search option. I use it all the time. There are two sellers you can try. Macsusedcars0, and deadjeeps.

We get a LOT of zombie threads here for some reason. I wrote a response to the OP, then noticed the date. Deleted that response and posted to the one that dug it up. Those two ebay sellers i posted do Jeep stuff, and have found rare stuff in the past. Give them a try. When i cant find something locally, or at a yard, i use Google, Bing, ebay, and even Craigslist. We have a classified/wanted section here on CF as well. If the part has a part # on it, you can use that to make sure the part you find is in fact the same part. IF you find another. If yours is damaged, look it over to see how, and if it can be repaired. Or, if a similar part can be modified.
Think outside the box.

I came across this when doing my daily stalking of Ebay.
Not sure if it is what you guys are looking for though.
