yea it should be 3.55 ratio. if u dont feel like counting teeth you could always spin the drive shaft and see how many revolutions it spins per 1 wheel rotation, which should be about 3 1/2 times.

it is 3.55 also there is a tag on your front axle(little metal thing) rear the numbers and if 3 55 end up anywhere in that number thats your ratio.

I found a small tag on the differential cover that said 3 5 that's all I could see on it. Would that stand for 3.55 gear ratio

Default Trying to decide on the proper ratio

I'm driving a 1988 Cherokee with 31 inch tires. I need to replace my rear axle and I'm trying to make sure I get the right ratio. What should I get? I think the basic is 3.55.

if theres no tag, have someone rotate the wheel 360 degrees. count how many times the driveshaft rotates. if it rotates 3 1/2 times you have 3.55s. if it rotates 3 3/4 times you have 3.73s and so on
