So I helped by buddy get rid of his old abs that kept locking up we used a master and booster from a 95 and got the lines and all that in and bled got it started now the jeep won't come out of park what did I miss and my buddy forget

 

I've never worked on a '89...is the shifter interlocked with the brake pedal so you can only shift out of P with your foot on the brake? Some had electric interlocks triggered off a brake pedal switch.

 

Got it he took out the stop lamp switch and tossed it thinking it was part of abs and it wasn't it sends signal to I guess NSs that brakes are applied and to unlock the shifter. Simple issue for a not so simple swap
