Question Jeep radio

I have a 95 Cherokee with the standard Jeep AM/FM radio. It has no reception on the AM band and very poor reception on FM. This leads me to think that the antenna may have come unplug or may be bad. Is there an easy way to get to the plug in the radio short of taking the dash apart?

Just pull the bezel off from the bottom and remove the 2 screws holding it in on the corners.

Just remove the bezel by tugging on it from the bottom and remove the 2 screws on the corners.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.

It's very unlikely the antenna wire just fell out of the back of the radio. The stock radios in 95 XJs suck even when they work well. If you're going to remove the bezel and radio to poke around, just replace it with a better unit for less than a hundred bucks.

The antenna wire has a break in it with a sort of adapter, under the passenger side dash (somewhere around there; I only remember vaguely)... I'd bet an inordinate amount of money your issue's got something to do with that.

I had the same situation, found that the PO had installed a cb radio and tapped into the stereo antenna and left out the spring, reinstalled the spring and it's all good now, not perfect, but very close. My bad, this was inside the lower passenger side panel under the dash, hope this helps

^He's talking about the same thing I was... And did a better job describing it.

Good luck!

Have not seen it but am guessing this is probably some type of RF coke inline or maybe they just went cheap and added and extension to a stock cable from the CJ. Just guessing of course.
