Default 2004 cherokee straight 6 stalls while driving

Never had this issue before, I was away for 5 days, this is the longest the jeep ever sat. When I started it it had a rough start but seems to get back to its normal idle. I drove out of my community and up the street where it stalled while I was driving. I pulled into a parking lot and tried to start it, it turned over fine but showed zero signs of wanting to start, like it was out of gas. After 10 minutes it stated right up. Later that day I drove up the road doing 50 when it stalled but as it was stalling I kept hitting the gas and it kicked back on. I dove home and was almost there when it stalled. I pulled over and it stared back up. The ground side of the battery was corroded, the battery was fairly new and so were the post connectors but the negative side wasn't fitting right, you could move it so my guess is that was an issue and why it corroded so fast, I did a good cleaning and was able to secure connector ton the post tight. That seemed to fix the issue, I drove it 5 miles twice that day. I have another truck that was given to me (death in the family) and been driving that, I start the jeep every few days and let it run. Its been several days and when I started it it stalled after a few minutes and would not start back up, I tried like 10 times times in a 3-5 minute period and after waiting another minute or two it started with no problem and stayed running for 10 minutes until I shut it down.

So, the only thing that changed was letting the jeep sit 5 days, the jeep ran fine until it sat, Any thoughts? There is no check engine light on. In all my years I never had a a truck/car do this

2004? There wasn't an XJ in 2004.

Did you check for fuel pressure or spark when it did this?

(Right out the gate, the CPS is suspect, but you never really know until you test)

I believe the XJ's were still being produced in 2004, in Beijing, China.

I think it needs more than static starts and/or 4 minute drives.
Might run to the local parts store and have the battery tested.

It was the Crankshaft Position Sensor code P0320 - I god the code from the jeep itself by turning the key on and off 3 times, it shows up on the odometer even though there was no check engine light on, great feature. My mechanic thinks it may have failed due to an oil leak from the valve cover that was dripping on it.

Nice that you got it fixed, but there still is no such thing as a 2004 Cherokee in the United States.

Do you by chance have a Grand Cherokee? Not the same vehicle.
