1999 XJ 4x4 Low Not Engaging
When I put my XJ in 4X4 Hi, it runs perfectly, however, when trying to get it into 4LO it's hard to get in gear and it never engages. Ideas? Never worked with a 4x4 before, I'm native to 5.0 Mustangs.

Just to make sure, are you shifting in properly? In neutral on transmission, and rolling at no more than approx 5mph.

Mine is doing the same but only it does engage. But it grinds going into 4lo. And yes I'm shifting proper. My dad said bad bushing? Also when I'm coming to a stopsign I can hear wobbling n vibration coming from under the Jeep. But when I lightly push up on the TCase shifter(towards 2wd) it stops...

Is there a bushing somewhere that could be bad? Could my shiver handle be loose or the linkage wrong? Any ideas? And thanks in advanced fellas

That was my problem the bushing. The pin was just sliding out of the bracket. Once I replaced the bushing it shifted fine. When its worn it lets that pin pop out and creates slop in the linkage.

Sounds like you have the infamous shot bushings on the crap factory linkage problem as well. Mine has all the same symptoms as yours. I have no problems shifting, but it's not as smooth as it could be and it rattles at idle as well unless I pull up slightly on the handle.
You'll need this kit to repair all the bushings...the part with the rubber boot and metal bracket is the culprit for the rattle.
