Default 1999 cherokee wiring diagram

I have a 1999 Cherokee 4-door, automatic, 4X4 with the 4.0 straight 6.
There is a short that blows one of the 15 amp fuses in the power distribution center under the hood. When the fuse is blown the keyless entry doesn't work, the gauges don't work(but the dash lights work) the over-head and courtesy lights don't work and the radio doesn't work. Everything else works. I think we have it isolated to the steering column area. Does anybody have a good wiring diagram for a 1999 Cherokee?
I am trying to use a Haynes manual and it's not as useful as I hoped it would be.

I am having this same problem with my 1999 XJ. Did you ever find out what the problem is?

This thread is six years old, and the poster hasn't been back in six years. You won't hear back from them.

I recommend searching this site more, or google 'fix electrical shorts in a car'.

I highly suggest getting a manual too, so you can put your hands on it while are looking inside your Jeep.

It's the Ignition Off Draw (IOD) fuse you're talking about.

How did you isolate it to the steering column area?

Thoughts:

Occasionally the driver's door jamb switch will go nuts and blow this fuse. Or, when it activates its circuits, one of the circuits blows the fuse.

The switch activates the dome light and courtesy lights, as well as the key in ignition circuit (the chime you hear when you leave the key in the ignition or leave the headlights on and open the door).

That's funny because I changed the driver's door jamb switch out because it was not working. I have only owed the jeep for about a month so I don't know if the 2 are related.

Were you blowing the fuse before you changed the door switch?

No, but I changed that switch very soon after buying so I have no long term data to go off of.

I know there are some bad wires in the drivers door harness boot because the door speaker sometimes crackles or goes out as I'm opening or closing the door.

No cracked or broken wires in the door. Also opened and closed the door about 100 times with problem.

Your speakers might be blown.

Found it. Short finally went in hard @ at a 57amp draw. After many hours of splitting circuits found the short in the wire for the passenger sun visor vanity mirror. Yea that's right. After taking every switch, light, connector and fuse loose or out it was in the least likely place. Seems that when I chose to get my headliner replaced by a more than shady installer for the half the price of the certified shop I got what I paid for. He screwed the sun visor screws into the power wire for the vanity light. It finally melted enough to make full contact with the roof.
