Default 2000 Cherokee Tach Questions

I have a 2000 Cherokee I am in the process of swapping a diesel in it. I was orginally going to swap a TDI in it and tune it. I recently came across a cheap MB 300TD and found a whole lot of info. Well I have figured out how to make all the gauges but the Tachometer. What ran the tach in the 00 when the motor and trans were still jeep? From what I read I will still be using the stock jeep flywheel and clutch is it just the crank sensor on the trans bellhousing that runs the tach?

I got a 2000 Cherokee and I did search for the tachometer signal a while ago, from the top of my mind I remember that the tach signal comes from a wire in the coil pack, I think it was a gray wire, will try to find some more info and reply

Adding the info
Just checked the12volt.com and I was correct, the tach signal comes from a gray wire in the coil pack.

You can search online for "tach signal generator" which will create the signal and make the OEM tach work accordingly

Keep us posted on your results!!!

Well after adding everything up I think I will be ahead going with a TDI swap as I have a lot of the parts in my garage. It will be more indepth but I think in the long run it will be cheaper for me. I am just researching everything right now.
