2000 XJ with 163k on her.... has I believe the Chrysler 8.25 rear axle.... took it to mechanic for the ABS light and he said I should have someone familiar with Jeep axles take a look as when it was in the air the rear axle has small amount of play and he thought that might be confusing the ABS sensor.

So is some play normal and if so how much is "too much".

ABS is D35 only

C-clip axles have a small amount of in-and-out play, like 1/16"

There should not be any slop movement

 

Lol someone familiar with jeep axles. An axle is an axle essentially. And yea, if you have the ABS light, you have a turdy five. Take some pics of the light and you axle.

 

If the PO installed a Detroit locker does that make any diff?
