Default 1997 wiring

My 97 Cherokee has buzzing from master control on driver door and engine will not start. If I open both front doors no buzzing and it starts. If I close one door engine dies. Help!

It is OK to laugh. I will check them. I repaired three broken wires in the rubber between the door and body. No change.

I should also say that the radio face light flashes on and off with the buzzing as well.

ok do you have a chime or a buzz? ( I ask cause mine is a buzz, not intermitent like the chime).

I still would say you have an open ground somewhere. Im not sure if newer cars have a block ground but I would check there. Typically there is a ground strap from the block (head/intake) to the fire wall.

It is a constant buzz unless both front doors are open.

ok because your door triggers are an open circuit until the doors are open I am lead to believe there is a ground issue (hence to open door running). As you said you have replaced some wires going through the door jam maybe you are grounding a ungrounded circuit? I can (almost without a doubt as an electrician) say that there is a grounding issue. Either ground fault of lack of ground.

Is your hatch closed? does it affect anything, where did you replace the wires? Driver or passenger? Do both doors need to be open? Do you have power locks and or windows or even mirrors?
