Default 100 amp alternator renix upgrade

89 xj, don't know what alternator I took out and want to make sure the wiring is good for the 100 amp I just bought. Are these jeeps prewired to handle all alternator options?

Nope. Not at all.

The wiring is the biggest issue, not the alternators.

What all should be upgraded for a 100 amp alternator then? Just a bigger charge wire? Any other wires or fuses?

Just did, I see you offer huge welding cables for jeeps but that seems like overkill for what I'm doing.

It is an overkill.

I suggest going to 6 AWG cables (at minimum) or to 4AWG (maximum).

That's what I was thinking, what wires specifically? And what about fuses?

The power cables (B+) and the ground cables. Fuses remain the same.

Does the alternator charge cable have a fusible link? I see a section on it that's got heat shrink.

Not sure what an '89 has.

Unwrap it and see what it looks like. Take a pic if you can.

Here's some pics of battery connector crimping.

I use these brass battery connectors from O'Reilly - work great.

You'll need 5/16" stud size ring terminals/lugs.
