They bolt up to an AX15 just fine but they're physically larger than a NP231, have different yoke types, slightly different shifter arrangements, and different wiring connectors for speedo and shift light. There will be some slight messaging, grinding, and rewiring, and lots of measuring and calls to my local driveshaft shop, but it shouldn't be rocket science to figure out... knock on wood...
Repaired my broken Etsy console clip with a piece of sheet metal JB welded to it. I abraded both surfaces prior to applying the JB Weld and i used CA glue (superglue) to hold the tab back in place in its original location. I let it dry for 24 hours and reinstalled it. Let's see how long this lasts. Someone needs to design a hybrid one that has metal reinforcement.
Finally changed the radiator out. Has been leaking for months but I've just been to busy to change it. Refilling with water was a poor choice but I changed it out this afternoon and flushed the block as best I could. It has a Mopar sticker on it. I think it was changed at one point in its life. I had to get new lower isolator bushings as mine were totally missing.
Credit to my wife for remembering to take this photo today. This is usually my daily driver but she totaled her car last week by hitting a deer. The big 2 0 0 0 0 0...
Well, I decided to try again to change out the new, leaking heater core. The Jeep does me little good here in Indiana without a defroster. Since it went much faster and easier this time, I took the time to replace all the 24 year old Tesa tape under the dash with fresh stuff. Found some missing screws so I replaced those to.
It actually turned out better this time and man does it blow hot air now!
I really wouldn't want to sell this thing not done right. So far I have been tackling this Jeep as a restoration and when I fix something, anything that gets touched in the process gets the full treatment.
Glad its over.
I'll keep the hose connector and clamps in the back in case I have a issue while on the road.
Finally got around to the D35 to 8.25 swap in the ‘89. Bearings were noisy for years in the D35, now I can actually drive it more than just around town! Of course, this is the 27 spline out of the rolled one, so temporary until I find a 29 spline and convert to disc, and install powertrax…
Maybe it’s the permanent one after all
