Hello, I am new here and this is my first post. I have a 1992 jeep cherokee that I have had since 1995, still runs up until now. I had it parked for about a year but would turn it on and let it idle every-now and then. The last time I turned it on, it was on and then it turned off. After that, it just cranks. I thought it was the fuel pump, so I replaced the fuel pump and that didn't fix it, then a mechanic was passing by, looked at it and said I have no spark, then went online and changed the Crank Sensor, still nothing. So far, I have replaced the ignition coil pack, distributor cap and rotor, all fuses are good and still no spark. Im stumped. Does anyone have any idea of what could be the problem? any info would be greatly appreciated.

You didn't say you replaced the spark plugs or wires.
You said 1995, so I know you don't have a coil pack. So I assumed you were talking about the main source of the spark that gets power to the distributor?
Make sure spark plugs are gapped properly. Champion copper spark plugs work great.

it could still be a faulty crank sensor. they've been known to come bad new in box.
or it could also be the cam shaft position sensor. that is under the rotor in the dizzy. not sure if it's the same design as the newer 97+ sensors or if it's the same as the renix, where you have to pull the whole distributor from the block. later models are an easy fix. much easier than a crank sensor...

Could also be a corroded fuseable link or bad ignition fuse. You can have signal from the crank sensor but if the power supply to the coil is gone, it no workie.

thank you very much for all the info. I removed the wire that goes in the center of the distribution cap and just had is close enough to make an arch. I had a friend try to start it and I didn't see any spark. Whenever it comes to electrical, its a pain in the rear for me. I will check the cam shaft position sensor, I haven't done that.
