Finally getting around to replacing my fuel pump. Ordered the part yesterday. What other parts do I need? Fuel tank seal or anything? Tips on dropping the tank would be a big help!

I'm about to do mine as well, I may be wrong but if you have a pre 97 jeep, I think you can do it without dropping the tank Cause it comes out of the front instead of the top. I'm not sure about the 97 up jeeps.

Yeah mine is a 98 the fuel pump and sending unit is on the top while before 97 is on the side. The straps keeping it up are rusted so I am probably gonna have to order new ones. I just really wanna know if there is a fuel tank seal

The seal should come with the fuel pump module assembly.

Use water to lube the seal it when installing the retaining ring.


Hope you bought a Bosch or Carter pump.

MidwestNick - I've dropped many a tank in my years. Don't forget to get the fuel out as step one!! Lightens it considerably.... :-)

All that means is that it's the same physically as the Original Equipment, so it should fit.

It says nothing about the quality. Cheap Chinese knockoffs can and do call themselves OE replacements.
