Probably the latter, or maybe not.

Don't sweat it. Change the fluid several times, as recommended, or follow the recommendation in my sig for a complete and completely safe flush.

You are probably good to go for another 50 or 100 thousand miles.

(But service it regularly!)

Fluid is cheap, transmissions not so much. So if the OP has a transmission failure I guess you are picking up the tab?

Hmm you're right, maybe the dealerships are trying to have tons of trannys come back junk so they can pay for them, makes plenty of sense. Lol

Yeah. We know.

If you'd bother to search on the topic, you might learn something about it. (Why am I pretty sure you won't?)

Google it, many people will say they run +4. Unless you need some help using Google?

Hey you all, My owners manual says that the +3 is only to be used in transmissions behind the 2.5L engine. If the trans is behind the 4.0L to use Dexron III 0r Mercon nothing about Mercon III. This is from the '99 owners manual.
