Default stock radio amp install

Pretty new to a lot of this audio stuff.. was hoping you guys could tell me whether or not i can install an amplifier to a stock radio in a 1991 cherokee? id like to keep the stock radio for the nostalgia.. kinda dig it over replacing it with a cheap aftermarket...

Thanks!

Yes, it's possible as long as the amp you choose has high level inputs. You can also use a line output converter.

Although these options are generally not the best sounding. If you want good sound it's best to go with a quality aftermarket head unit. Along with good sound you can also enjoy modern amenities such as bluetooth.

I wouldn't start with an amp. Start at the head.

as others have said, get new speakers if you already have not--OEM speakers are terrible. You will need a line out converter to go between your head unit and amp. It is not plug-n-play. You will have to do some cutting and splicing of the speaker wires.
