Stereo issue
Been trying to get my aftermarket stereo to work. It was on the vehicle when I bought it (1990 cherokee) and it never really worked much. The issue is it cuts in and out when I'm driving around. I can get it to work pretty well just sitting in one spot (I thought it was just a bad antenna connection) but when I move it starts getting choppy. I've heard it could be a bad ground but how can I test that? Thanks

it could also be a grounded out speaker wire. easiest way for me to test was take the stereo out and hook it up on the workbench. one speaker, and 12 jump box. i moved the speaker from wire to wire to check all the channels of the radio.
after i determined that the radio was fine, i put it back in the jeep.. but .. i only hooked up on one speaker at a time.. until .. the driver rear roof speaker negative wire caused it all to stop working.

Here's something else worth mentioning. If I'm sitting in the driver seat listening to the radio, even when I'm not driving, if I lean back in my seat the radio cuts out. Not sure if that helps any.

I'd bet that the speaker wire runs right under your seat, and thats likely where you'll find the short.
