'95 is when the factory started punching the left fender apron for the '97 and up windshield washer reservoir that installs between the inner and outer fender. This hole is easy enough to cut in pre '95 XJ's
'95 also has the mounting screw dimples on the left inner fender for the earlier '87 to '90 RENIX era washer reservoir.
I fit checked both early and late reservoirs in their respective locations on my XJ and they are good to go.
TL;DR we have mix and match stock parts options for this that will work and look factory.
Battery tray broke after battery died. So I guess I have a Dirtbound Offroad battery tray and an Optima battery now. Battery tray is super nice. I had to trim the studs like everyone says. For $80 I wish it was already painted. I didn't mind painting it, but I was ready to install it the day I got it but had to plan the painting process since it's been cold here. Optima redtop has always been on the wishlist but for a comparable price to regular batteries, I couldn't say no. After around $300, I'm ready to finish my auxiliary PDC 😎
