Default second battery?

Hey, I am looking at putting a second battery in my 99 Sport and I am looking for suggestions on where to put it. I have thought about moving the air intake to either a cowl or a snorkel but I am looking for other options. This will be an Overland/daily driver so I don't want to overly mess with the mechanics of the air intake, nor deal with the noise and filter complications of a cowl intake. Is a snorkel my best bet, then put the second battery at the air intake box or can the battery be placed somewhere else in the Jeep? Ideas and thoughts?

I put mine in the back, where the original size spare tire used to sit. I'm not in love with it being back there for when I camp and sleep back there, but I prefer it over making the front end even more cramped. I have mine set up in such a way that the front battery is primarily just for the starter and other stock features while the back battery is a backup and helps out with winching, extra lighting and aftermarket accessories. I hope that helps.

Mine are in back and have been for years. But I am taking my cargo area back and moving the batteries. You are limited to the driver front and using a cowl intake or the back cargo area unless you get fancy and lower part of the floor area under the back seat. If you do an interior battery, you must use a gel battery like and Optima or you will have acid fumes in the interior.

i did the air cleaner thing. i put a after market K&N cone on the intake and welded a plate onto the inner fender. i used a rubber bungee to hold the battery in place. this is a full time off road jeep and gets plenty of rough wear and tear. never had a problem with the battery shifting. really helps having the extra longevity in battery life when making a long winch pull.

This is rule #1 of how NOT to secure a battery.
