I was able to grab a old cavfab straight steering tie rod. (1.5" DOM) It is long enough for me to chop up to make an upper link. And it's sorta appropriate since it's gonna be a part of a cavfab 3 link system. Lol.

Wow that's awesome! What a great deal! What are you going to do with the stub end of it when you cut it down?

So today I needed the space in the garage and it was annoying to constantly move the rock sliders around all the time so I said the hell with it; I finished painting them and then finally installed them on the MJ.

Looks good

Then since it wasn't dark yet. I went ahead and bolt up the CAVFAB crossmember on.

Put the lower links on

Then shoved the d44 under to see where it sits

Well apparently the lowers are way too long. So I ll need to shorten it down (looks like 3" or so).

I gotta order new bungs to weld on the ends of the tubes.

The steering rod I got, I ll need to shorten it down and buy new bungs for them along with new heims.

I need more anyway cause of the track bar.

Cool beans. That's it so far.

The entire weekend r gonna be eventful since my wife & daughter is away. I would be able to make so much progress... I hope. Haha.

So over the weekend, I centered the axle in the front and measured the lower arms at 1" stretch..

The tale of SuperMJ-photo654.jpg

Put them on my saw and carefully cut out the welds around the bungs. Only 1/4" deep and then removed them without any damage to it.

The tale of SuperMJ-photo776.jpg

Chucked it up on my lathe to clean up the old welds and make it square.

Cut 3" off the total length.

Brought it into work to TIG weld then back on.

I also need to do something about this

The tale of SuperMJ-photo83.jpg

Few years ago I bought knuckles with new ball joints already pressed in it for $20 from a swap meet... never came with nuts so I'm on the hunt for new castle nuts for the uppers & lock nuts for the lowers.

Went to a parts store and they quoted me $60 for them. Wtf? New ball joint set is like $110. "You can't be telling me it cost more to manufacture the nuts than to make the ball joints!"

Wtf so I'm gonna hit the eBay or whatever to find it.

I made a pair of motor mounts and a trans mount. (Only the motor mounts are currently painted.. I need to get started on painting the trans mount).

I also did something else but I can't remember what at the moment.

Just sold my 5/8 heims I had laying around and used that money to buy 7/8 heims to use for the upper link.

And profited like 2 dollars after all that. Ha. I guess I ll go buy myself a coke or something.
