When I go up to 35s I'll sell you my KM2s. Still about 3/4 tread on 4 and 90% tread on one.

So I picked my axles up from a friend who did the gears...

I got them home, put in the garage and decided to put stuff back together loosely to see how it looked. I will be giving the axle another coat of paint.

Only things I need to buy to fully complete the rear axle is the wheel bearings/ seals, brake shoes & hardware, new brake hard lines.

I think I ll probably make my own lines.

Get a roll of the copper-nickel line. Easy to work with, bend and flare.

Are you going to keep the drum brakes? If so, why?

It's my understanding drum brakes get ate up quick with mud. Mud gets in, can't get out. No first hand experience, but I met a guy who complained of it.

And, I hate assembling drum brakes.

I live in a swamp and never had that issue.

I don't wheel in mud. And this truck is primarily daily driven with perhaps 5-10% of off-roading.

Also. Drums have larger contact area on the brakes, which help with holding. It's helpful when you are rock crawling and you are trying to climb steep rocks or going down the rocks.

Also I'm tapped out of disposable cash. So the drums will do for now.

And brake kits for waggy d44s are crazy expensive. DIY would be costing me a lot of time that I don't have.

Wheel bearings and seals ordered via RockAuto

Should be here by Thursday. I ll probably have them pressed on the shafts by Friday.

Tonight I probably should brush the rust off the shaft flange section and paint it.

I'm thinking red?
