So I drove 4 hours to pick up this 1987 comanche 4.0 aw4 2wd. With the intention to 4x4 swap
It made the 4 hour drive home with minimal problems, main one being the valve cover gasket & rear main dumping on the exhaust..😂 wasnt the most fun but she made it
First goal was changing the valve cover gasket, easy peasy.
next was tackling the rear main, if you look closely at the crosspipe there is something hose clamped to it, looks to me like the PO bolted something up to catch the oil leak so it didn't burn off of the exhaust..🙄
"Dont mind my sketchy lift, it's so I could get the oil pan out by dropping the axle" it's on jackstands too.
As of right now it's running & shifting good with NO leaks. Tomorrow I pick up a 2 door 90 XJ ax15 4wd for my 4wd swap. Slave is out of course 🙄 but the price is right and I can source the parts to swap it to an external slave in the future
Hunk o junk XJ for my 5 speed swap.. paid 500 bucks.. motor runs good, shifts good until oil leaks from slave cylinder.. wish dude would have told me the tcase could be wrecked.. 4low works but somthing grinds super bad 😂
Welcome to the Jeep Thing!
Well if you change your mind and just want out of it let me know I will come get them from you then you wont have to worry about the transfer needing rebuilt!

😂 yeah I guess not everything can go smoothly, rebuilding the t case will be good practice. And I can do SYE while I'm at it
Yup! I'm just glad its simple, and SYE was already planned😁 I'll be trying to find a 8.25/8.8/dana44 before I start getting the lift parts. Junk yards want 450 an axle here 🙄
