1987 comanche Project
So I drove 4 hours to pick up this 1987 comanche 4.0 aw4 2wd. With the intention to 4x4 swap http://imgur.com/gAsqkF6
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...cfced0c31a.jpg It made the 4 hour drive home with minimal problems, main one being the valve cover gasket & rear main dumping on the exhaust..😂 wasnt the most fun but she made it https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...8a89a578bd.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...1e3564bbee.jpg |
First goal was changing the valve cover gasket, easy peasy.https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...e374ab0137.jpg
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...b268ab03bc.jpg next was tackling the rear main, if you look closely at the crosspipe there is something hose clamped to it, looks to me like the PO bolted something up to catch the oil leak so it didn't burn off of the exhaust..🙄 "Dont mind my sketchy lift, it's so I could get the oil pan out by dropping the axle" it's on jackstands too. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...ac9a5fb963.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...54d3e47c2e.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...5b2073631f.jpg |
As of right now it's running & shifting good with NO leaks. Tomorrow I pick up a 2 door 90 XJ ax15 4wd for my 4wd swap. Slave is out of course 🙄 but the price is right and I can source the parts to swap it to an external slave in the future

Good looking truck. I am searching for a ax15 swap for my Comanche. |
