Default Differential fluid change?

I have 2016 Jeep Cherokee (3.2L - Automatic 6CYL 4WD) and can't get straight information from my dealer. They recommend a differential fluid change every 30K (I'm at 60K) but there's no reference to that in my owners manual. They also printed out a maintenance schedule for me at the dealership and there's no mention of flushing the differential fluid. Do I need to flush the fluid or not?

Oh, my 4WD service light just came on.

Welcome Chuck. I'm moving this thread to a spot where it will serve you better.

That said, always go by the manufacturers REQUIRED services. Many dealers use the term "recommended" to sell you services more often than truly needed.

A lot depends on your use. Lots of towing? Extreme off-road in dust/sand? Fording deep water? These can reduce the frequency of diff oil changes, but otherwise I agree with cruiser.

No towing or off-roading. Just a lot of highway driving. 20-24K per year in mileage.

Also, just got word from the dealer that the PTU needs to be replaced. Something about the "actuator binding."

The Jeep is barely 3 years old, 65K mileage, a few months out of warranty and now this.

Okay, the OP is posting in the wrong forum. This is for the KL 2014-2019 Cherokee. The OP’s avatar says he has an XJ.

They're in the correct forum. Avatar is incorrect.
