Clunking noise when braking?
Hello!
About a year ago i bought a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited. It currently has about 45k miles on it. I absolutely love the vehicle, but it is making an odd noise that i have not heard from any other vehicle before. I have brought it to the dealership multiple times over the year and they either tell me they fix it or they cannot replicate the noise... VERY frustrating.
I have been monitoring the noise as much as possible to try to help pin point it down for the dealership, but they keep telling me the noise cannot be replicated.
When i am braking from say 30mph to come to a red light (not slamming on the brake) when I'm down to about 2mph, there is a decently loud clunk noise that sounds like its coming from the front of the vehicle. If the clunk doesn't happen while breaking, it will do it when i go to accelerate. This noise does not happen when the car is first turned on, while its cold out (has to be above 40 degrees) and the noise doesn't happen if i have the traction control turned off.
I brought it to the dealership as mentioned above. The first couple times i was told the noise could not be replicated and then i was told once that the "shim on the brake was misaligned" and then later that day, the noise was still present. Once, i was able to have a service advisor drive with me, but OF COURSE, the car didn't want to make the noise at that time. Ive had the multi-point inspection done and they are not able to find any cause. The car has been driving fine for the past year, but the noise sounds like something is getting stuck and i don't want it to be an issue further down the road.
Anyone have any ideas on what this could be? Don't know how else to go about this since the dealership keeps saying everything is fine.

Hi there: I'm having a very similar issue with the knocking/clunking, only my problem is most pronounced while backing up, like from a parking space. I first heard the noise while backing up into my driveway. Multiple visits to the local dealership, with the same result from the service department. They say they can't replicate the noise, which is nonsense. They obviously can't even isolate the problem. Multiple parts thrown at vehicle...no parts (including an entire front left strut) have fixed the problem.
I'm also sometimes hearing the knocking when accelerating from a stop, and/or when turning the steering wheel. So....I sometimes hear the knock when not braking, but rather, when starting to accelerate from a stop sign or light.
Hi. We recently purchased a 2019 Limited with 49k and also experienced this phenomenon. Not all the time but certain roads. Like this one road to the house. It’s around 35 mph and after going down the hill coasting when you step on the gas again.
I found this TSB and I’m going to talk to the dealer about it. I thought you might want to see this.
