Default grinding rattling noise??

I just bought a 1999 Cherokee classic. It was fine for a couple days but now whenever I start it and shut it off it makes a grinding/rattling noise also here the rattle type noise when idling in park! Drives great though no noise when driving. The noise sounds like it's coming from front under jeep. Anyone have an idea what it could be???

Have you put it in park, started it and opened the hood?

Probably a exhaust rattle/loose heat shield.

Start it, then before it gets too hot try smacking the catalytic converter to see if anything changes in the noise.

Take a wood 2x4 or a hammer handle works good so long as it's wood... run the Jeep in park with the p-brake on, push on parts underneath with it till you find it. Use wood not metal.
