Hi, picked up a 98 xj about a month or 2 ago. wondering what you guys think of the deal, any super common issues I should look into as well.

Its a 1998 cherokee sport 2 door Grizzly Edition (anyone know what that means?)

160,000 km (100k miles)
AX-15 5 speed manual
NP231 transfer case
dana 30 front
c8.25 29 spline rear

Paint is mint and came with 2 sets of 235/75r15 on rims. (a/t on fairly offset rims and winters on stock rims) So far ive had 0 issues whatsoever, I replaced the valve cover gasket, cleaned the throttle body and a few other basic maintenance things. Checked the diff oils and they are clean as a whistle. Previous owner was an older gentleman I know and its never even been off road! I paid $2900 cad for it (about 2200 USD), good deal?

Oh yeah, one more thing. rear leafs are a bit sagged out and it currently has air shocks in the back which are holding it up, I know this is not good hahah whats the best way to lift it back up or even 1.5-2" above stock. Was thinking of using just the main leaf from s10 in the stack? and spacer in the front. I would like to keep it a cheap job as I am still a university student and this is the starving type of year. Last but not least I built this pretty cool 3 piece sleeping platform in the back for camping, what do you guys think. its about 4 ft wide and totals 6'2 in length!

Wow, that's one of the most desirable combinations for an xj, looks like a great find! Welcome to Cherokee forum

From BC Canada, near Vancouver-ish. Glad to hear I got a good combo, from my research it seemed I lucked out. and yea ive done a bit of research on the whole grizzly edition thing and cant find anything. I'll post a picture of the badges, it was probably only in Canada but i am curious to know the specific features it came with.

Yeah I think I've heard of it once before looks like yours has some type of running boards or side trim on it maybe that was part of it

Yea it does have running boards, doesnt seem too 'grizzly' lol but makes it easy to get stuff out of the roof box cause the 2 door makes it a lot harder, no door sill to step on in the back
