New guy from Cincinnati
Hello all!
I just picked up my first XJ and i'm excited to get on here and learn.
It's a 1996 model year with 101k miles and was a 1 owner vehicle.
It's got a small lift and 31in tires. Starts, runs and rides really well.
There are a couple of small concerns I'm going to look into ... firstly there was more oil in the engine bay then I'm comfortable with but the oil cap did seem to be a bit loose and since oil pressure holds well in the gauge at factory spec, I'm going to clean the whole bay and keep an eye on it to see if anything needs fixing. Looks like maybe valve cover gasket could use a change.
Also, when I parked it last night there was a loud bubbling or gurgling sound coming from down by the oil pan. This morning i checked the oil and it's clean, checked the coolant and it looked good. The overflow tank is empty and has some gunk in the bottom of it so i'll clean that out and top it off. But the coolant temp gauge also reads right on factory specs and the car doesn't show signs of running poorly or overheating. I've read in a couple places that this can just be oil draining into the crank case if it's cold out, which it was last night. So i'm hoping that this isn't a big deal.
All in all i'm pretty excited to start my Jeep life as this is the first car in a while that i've been excited about owning/driving.
Looking forward to learning as much as I can and hopefully contributing around here.
