New chap with an old Xj
Well I bought an old Cherokee because it was cheap and looked more fun than a Renault Clio 1.4. Of course, the language in the manual is as different French. I now have the task of getting my head around the differences on the two sides of the Atlantic:
A bonnet seems to be a hood and the boot is a trunk. Instead of an anti-roll bar it has a sway bar and it runs on gas instead of petrol. Using non-metric spanners (sorry, wrenches) is easier as I have had lots of older cars that had Imperial sizes and I once spent some time in South Carolina as a guest of the USMC and we do have McDonalds in England. I am clearly hooked on Chrysler, (as my other car is a Mercedes) who seem to own half the motoring world.
All good fun and I'm looking forward to many years with my first ever American car (though not my first American vehicle - I had a Harley Davidson XLH1200). So if I write with odd spellings and use odd nouns, please forgive my old Englishness as I try and work out if a fender is a bumper or mud-guard.

I live in Nantwich in Cheshire old bean, where 50% of cars are Bentleys, 49% are Audis, there are a handful of Fords, a Mercedes and a Jeep.
