Hello from England
Hello All, just bought a '99 XJ project. I was looking to buy an XJ last year but a reasonably cheap (and local) '93 YJ came up so I bought that, then spent a good part of the summer tidying it up and making it roadworthy. It still needs some fettling but is on the road, and then this black 2.5 petrol Cherokee Sport came up, again fairly local to me. I'm a sucker for punishment so bought it - now the fun starts!
Thanks for the welcome, guys.
As to off-roading over here, I have to admit I don't really know. Obviously we don't have a Grand Canyon or a Moab, although there are some great hills and a couple of small mountains! Locally, around Oxford, there is a fair bit of green-laning. This is a comparatively small island with 70 million people jammed on it so there aren't wide expanses or free country where you can just turn off the road and enjoy the dirt, and the 'green' movement do everything they can to try and stop any form of motoring leisure and enjoyment.
My background is hot-rodding and old bikes and cars, but have always liked Jeeps. I guess I'm more of a Wagoneer / Scrambler / early Cherokee type than a lifted rock-crawler one
Most of my recent and current projects seem to involve 'saving' old stuff and getting/keeping it on the road for others to take to the next level. The YJ is like that, and so is my new toy, the XJ.

As above, I don't really know, being new to Jeeps. There is a forum but when I checked it seemed a bit quiet.
