Default Hello from England

Hello i've been browsing on here for a week now, when looking for jeep forums on google this seemed to have the most user friendly layout and a welcoming community.

I'm mainly a BMW & Porsche enthusiast & always liked Hot Rods, always wanted a *****'s coupe.

My daily driver is a 2005 9 seater mercedes vito, which i use for work and for pleasure i have an 1988 BMW E34 535i se.

previous cars include an 1982 Porsche 924 turbo 1982 BMW E28 520i 1994 subaru impreza wrx and ive done a very small amount of off roading in an 1988 Range Rover classic V8 3.5i.

I don't have a jeep yet and no means to buy one this year but i came on here hoping for inspiration for next year, i'll be looking for a grand Cherokee around the 1996-2000 vintage, we'll have to see how finances go as i don't really want to loose the BM.

sorry for the essay and if you got this far thanks for reading.

Andy.

oops didint mean it quite in that way. All the build threads seem to be on the Cherokee, sorry i don't know the different model designations for anything but bmw's. Are they more popular because there better off road, or is there another reason as there are more Grand Cherokees to choose from here and the prices are about the same. I prefer the look of the pre 1999 Grand cherokee.

Alot of people get that mixed up. No worries! It's just that when you say vintage I think of a Datsun 510 or and Nova or something old.

In the US you see about 50/50 Cherokee's and Grand Cherokee's. I dont really know how they do offroad, because i have never been able to wheel with one.

Model Designation:
XJ= Cherokee, 1984-2001
ZJ= Grand Cherokee, 1993-1998
WJ= Grand Cherokee, 1999-2004
WK= Grand Cherokee, 2005-TODAY

When looking at old cars here we refer to them as classics. Reading through some of the threads on here the differences in terminology( hope that's the right word) can cause a little confusion, but with an IQ of 1 it doesn't take much to confuse me

Looking through Auto trader, Ebay or on piston heads we seem to have a lot more Grand Cherokees for sale.

[QUOTE=mrmikey32;387783]i just came back from england. i cant wait to go back.[/QUOTE

I've only been abroad once to Egypt had great fun Quad biking in the desert, but its wet windy and cold here at the moment with a good dose of snow for good measure, so I'd wait a while before planning any more trips.

My ambition is to tour round America - New york
Bangor-Maine
Vegas
Colorado
Arizona
San Francisco
and generally around California, so many places i see on movies which i spend (waste) to much time watching.

Yep its unbelievable, just like watching a load of confused ducks, i don't know about other countries but common sense seems to have been thrown out the window here.
