1998 Cherokee - Now What?
Helloooooo,
My name is Jett and I'm new to the forum, but not new to Jeep. However, this is my first Cherokee. Upon researching getting another Jeep (the first was a '76 CJ5) I ended up asking myself "Why didn't I get a Cherokee sooner?"
Anyway.... I found a '98 Cherokee Sport. No rust at all! It's an XJ that has spent most all of its life in the desert. I love it, but I'm not sure I love the color. Tell me what you think of the color. Hate it, wouldn't be caught dead driving in it? Or, dig it, it's different? I have a YETI ARC mountain bike the same color, but that's a mountain bike.
First up on my project list is to fix a leaky main bearing seal. I got four 6 ton Torin jack stands, a 3 ton floor jack and am thinking of making some cribbing blocks for peace of mind. I think I will take pics and perhaps even make a video of the transformation of this Jeep. (will I paint it? haha)
Living out here in the Southwest in New Mexico has me thinking I will go with a lift over 4". I'm still researching my options and there seem to be a lot of kits out there. Rubicon Express has caught my eye.
There is 1 Jeep Club here in NM, but from what I can tell no club from my area is represented here in the Jeep Cherokee forum. Sad.
Here are some pics of my Cherokee..... Project name yet to be determined....

Yeah, I think about "her" everyday. She definitely has my attention and I'm planning to show her all kinds of love.

hahahahahahaha yeah, right!?
The guy I got it from said his wife picked it out as it was her daily driver. She didn't drive it too much, because it only has 119K miles on it.

I appreciate the welcome messages. It's nice to be a part of the community.
Yeah, I was surprised to find many Jeeps for sale in New Mexico from out of state that were rusted pretty badly. Hardly anyone wants to part with their desert Jeeps, and those that do have beat and scared them to the point of needing to undo the problems they have caused.
