You are installing it upside down. The TRE should be installed from the bottom.

That's what frustration and too much time in the sun gets me. Tried to rush it at the end and forgot what I was doing. Thanks for helping me put my head back on

Thankfully I put my tools away before I got too creative/destructive with it. Thank you

No problem. We all need an extra set of eyes from time to time.

Anyone know if this upgrade is compatible with aftermarket dif covers?
I'm just thinking about clearance between the tie rod & cover.

Just wanted to give an update. Finished the job this morning, did an alignement with a tapemeasure and a few adjustments. I brought it in to the alignement shop to have it double checked, i was only off by 0.5* on the toe in! took the magic carpet for a test drive on the highway after, did 80 for the first time ever and never felt so smooth. Drives like a dream and handles like a golf cart now. Whole job cost me $185 plus the alignment, all parts bought new at auto zone

I have a stock cover on mine, but I've seen many photos of it being used with different aftermarket ones. Not sure if they all fit, but I know at least some do with no issue.

There's plenty of space with the ZJ tie rod and most covers.

Just picked mine today. Other than buying a new TRE and collar, is it at all possible to replace the boot on the side that attaches to the drag link?

You'll need to go on Energy Suspension's website and find the right part number for the dia of the rod but yes they do sell them.

Local NAPA usually has those in stock.
