ok i just received my parts..

i got all Moog parts. cost $100 shipped via amazon prime. figure i may as well do this upgrade while doing the lift and before i get it aligned.

i ordered (hope thats the right stuff):
Moog ES2079S
Moog ES3096L
Moog DS1312

i was a little confused because the new one has bends in it and the original is straight. glad i found this thread to straighten me out..

so the pics below are the correct way to install the new parts?

Yes that's the correct orientation. Adjusting sleeve goes at the knuckle end, not the drag link end.

Simple easy bolt on upgrade.

Get the following parts for a 95 Grand Cherokee with a V8
Moog part numbers
ES3096 Tie rod end (short) 21.99 @ Autozone
DS1312 Long tie Rod 34.99 @ Autozone
ES2097S Adjustment Sleeve 15.99 @ Auto zone

The Tie Rod end is MUCH thicker, The Tie Rod bar is thicker and Soild not hollow like the stock XJ one. When you put them side by side the XJ Tie Rod looks like a joke compared to the ZJ one.

Dang, talk about a good example of inflation
Noggin pokin for Death Wobble,i and searchin if it needs tie rods, this is a no brainer answer.

$30 in 6yrs? Thanks for the change, that's about 30% increase.

Presume Moog is best alternative as opposed to house brands @ A Zone or O'riley's?

First of all what an awesome thread! Definitely plan on doing this very soon. Does this make having a steering stabilizer even more pointless? Im debating to just put a new on while im down there installing this new set-up or am i just wasting money?

Not at all. All geometry is maintained, the parts are WAY stronger. The ZJ setup includes a stabilizer.

Getting rid of the stabilizer takes a bunh of work to do properly. Some pundits will show up and blast WITH A PROPERLY SET UP STEERING YOU DON'T NEED ONE but with the factory inverted-Y you do. It soaks up shocks that otherwise beat the **** out of the gear box.

Hehe don't get too excited. They're definitely a worthwhile improvement, but you won't notice any change unless your current steering is worn. The ZJ stuff is just harder to break

Default Drag link TRE not fitting in pitman arm

This morning I bought all new zj Drag link, tir-rod, adj sleeve, and 2 TREs. Got the old stock stuff out of the way surprisingly easy. Started installing all the new stuff, keeping my measurements as close to original as possible, also installed a rubicon express stabilizer while I was down there because the old one was shot. Problem is now, I had no issue with any of the TREs untill I got to the last one, connecting the drag link to the pitman arm. It just seems too big. It looks the same as the original but I can only get it through with 1 row of threads coming through the bottom of the pitman arm. I tried using the castle nut to pull it down and now the shaft is spinning. Im assuming now I trashed that end and will need a new one but I'm concerned I'll have the same problem. Part number is ES3095 from auto zone, can anyone confirm thats correct? Advanced had one #ES3096L is this the same Part? This is my DD so I'm hoping to solve ASAP, thanks for any help!
