Default zj Dana 44?

Would a ZJ Dana 44 be a good swap in my 88 xj?

I asked about this awhile back because it sounded like a great idea
but apparently they are built with aluminum. so no, not a good swap

Check out a wrecking yard or pick n pull and see if you can find an XJ with the factory tow package, they had a D44 in back. I found 2 XJ's at my local yard that has the D44 under them.

Aside from the fact that an XJ has leaf springs and the ZJ has coil springs and all the mounting is different?

29 spline 8.25 is just as strong as a d44, a direct swap, easier to find and cheaper.
